Cory calls himself The Misfit Agent because he never felt he fit the traditional mold of a real estate agent. Before starting his real estate career in 2017, Cory worked as a professional pedicab driver in San Francisco. He quickly embraced his role as an ambassador to the city and built a business on giving personalized tours of the city on the back of his rickshaw. After moving back to NC to be closer to family, 3 people in one week told him he should get his real estate license. Without any formal education in real estate or finance, he made the jump and never looked back. Early on, his greatest fear was that no one would take him seriously as a real estate agent and that he would have to change who he was to succeed. Fast forward to today and he’s built a business based on authenticity, education, and deep connections with his clients and sphere of influence. He learned that the more he leaned into who he was, the more his business grew.
Cory joined KW and founded his company, Homegrown Real Estate, in 2018. To date, he’s grossed over $60 million in sales and has come to embrace the culture and educational opportunities within Keller Williams. He has been a proud member of the Agent Leadership Council in his Market Center, a BOLD graduate, and is working toward becoming a Quantum Leap instructor as well as a certified KWU trainer with his sights set on International Master Faculty.
Cory believes that one of the greatest gifts of a real estate career is the ability to take it with you everywhere you go. An avid traveler, he has created real estate opportunities in Portugal and Indonesia and plans to continue building relationships and referral partners with KW agents abroad. Cory is a father to three children and husband to Alison whom he met at Oktoberfest while on a bike trip from Scotland to Turkey. Cory is an avid reader and podcast junky. When he’s not working on his real estate business, Cory plays in a competitive pool league and recently discovered a love for improv comedy.
